Youth Lessons at Beyond the Note (ages 5-18) do more than teach young musicians how to play an instrument. We help them build creativity, confidence, and consistency that carry into every part of life.

Lessons are conducted in person at our Beyond the Note studio in Cary, NC (1220 SE Maynard Rd, Ste 103, Cary, NC 27511). Virtual lessons are also available via Zoom for students who prefer the flexibility of learning from home.
Lessons are $160 per month for half-hour sessions and $320 per month for hour-long sessions. Payments are processed via debit card through the Fons processing platform.
Youth Lessons are designed for students ages 5-18. Any student under age 6 will be screened during the free consultation to ensure they're ready for one-on-one instruction. Younger students (ages 4-5) may be a better fit for our Group Classes program.
We offer a free consultation upon our first meeting—not a full lesson. This time is used to evaluate where you are in your musical journey, discuss your goals, and determine if Beyond the Note is the right fit. The consultation typically lasts 20-30 minutes.
We offer lessons in piano, drums, bass, guitar, vocals, and audio production. For percussion students, we also teach snare drum, drum set, mallet percussion, and jazz studies/improvisation.
Not necessarily. For drummers, students can start lessons using a practice pad (typically $20-$50). We can also discuss short-term rentals if you're interested in other instruments. During your free consultation, we'll talk through what makes sense for your situation and budget.
