Between work, family, and everything else, finding time for yourself can feel impossible. That's why our Adult Lessons are built around your schedule—not the other way around. Choose between in-person lessons at our Cary studio or virtual sessions via Zoom.
Forget the "method books" and one-size-fits-all curriculum. Our teaching is completely personalized to your goals. Want to finally play that song you've been listening to for decades? We'll teach you. Interested in improvisation, music theory, or songwriting? We can do that, too.
There are no mandatory recitals, no competitive pressure, and no judgment about where you're starting from. This is about you, your goals, and your enjoyment of music.
Frequently Asked Questions
Lessons are conducted in person at our Beyond the Note studio in Cary, NC (1220 SE Maynard Rd, Ste 103, Cary, NC 27511). Virtual lessons are also available via Zoom for students who prefer the flexibility of learning from home.
Lessons are $160 per month for half-hour sessions and $320 per month for hour-long sessions. Payments are processed via debit card through the Fons processing platform.
We offer a free consultation upon our first meeting—not a full lesson. This time is used to evaluate where you are in your musical journey, discuss your goals, and determine if Beyond the Note is the right fit. The consultation typically lasts 20-30 minutes.
That's completely fine—many of our adult students are absolute beginners. We start wherever you are and build from there. There's no prerequisite knowledge or experience required. Whether you're 25 or 65, it's never too late to start learning.
We offer lessons in piano, drums, bass, guitar, vocals, and DJ/audio production. For percussion students, we also teach snare drum, drum set, mallet percussion, and jazz studies/improvisation.
Very flexible. We understand that adult schedules are unpredictable. We'll work together to find lesson times that fit your availability—whether that's evenings, weekends, or midday sessions. If you need to reschedule, just let us know by the last day of the current month, and any remaining lessons can be made up virtually during the last week of the month.
